About Pind Dadan Khan

Pind Dadan Khan is a town in Jhelum District, Punjab,   It is located at 32°34'60N 73°2'60E[2] on the bank of River Jhelum, about 25 kilometres from the M2 motorway.

History

The town was originally founded by the Khokhar clan and according to the Imperial Gazetteer of India, compiled over a century ago during British rule, although the Khokhar were numerically unimportant (1,745 according to the 1901 census), they possessed great social distinction. They were ordinarily considered a Rajput tribe, under which heading or that of Jats most of them declare themselves. Total Khokars, including Rajputs and Jats, 5964. One of their ancestors founded the town of Pind Dadan Khan, which he called after his own name, and which has become the chief centre of the salt trade.[3]
